This license indicates a diver who completed all recreational diving education, attended an ESA Diveleader course or another recognized diving organization equivalent rating and finally succeeded an ESA AIC (Assistant Instructor Course).
ESA Assistant Instructors are authorized to carry out all the duties established for the ESA Diveleader and to conduct part of ESA programs and courses, from beginners' level up to ESA Diveleader, under the direct control of a qualified ESA Instructor.
To accomplish his duties and take on the related responsibilities, as ESA Assistant Instructor has to annually renew the ESA membership, submit the ESA Professional Agreement and get a professional liability insurance as established by the ESA Standards and by the local rules or law.
Prerequisites to enroll an ESA Assistant Instructor course: Be at least 18 years old Be certified as ESA Advanced Diver (or equivalent rating) Be certified as ESA Prevention & Rescue Diver (or equivalent) Be certified as ESA Diveleader (or equivalent rating) Have an ESA First aid certification (or equivalent rating) Have an ESA Oxygen First Aid certification (or equivalent rating) Have at least 60, signed and logged dives in a personal logbook An up to date medical certificate
